Previously......
On January 17, 2001, the Internal Revenue
Service issued Proposed Regulations that dramatically simplify the rules
relating to Required Minimum Distributions from qualified retirement plans,
including IRAs. The proposed regulations may be relied upon according to
IRS.
The proposed new rules will become final when
published as Final Regulations in the Federal Register. The comment period
on the proposed regulations expires after May 11, 2001. A public hearing
is scheduled for June 1, 2001.
Major simplification includes:
Calculation of required minimum
distributions
Determination of a designated
beneficiary for distributions after death
